We don’t hand communities a service and walk away; we help them build the capacity to solve challenges and support one another for the long term.

Who We Work Alongside
OPR’s programs only work because of the institutions willing to build them with us: hospitals and healthcare systems, universities, public safety agencies, schools, and faith centers across Minnesota. Every one of these partnerships started the same way everything else on this page did, someone willing to sit down and listen first.
A hospital administrator once called OPR looking for a quick fix: train a chaplain, check a box, move on. That’s not what happened. Before anyone touched a curriculum, OPR spent months in that hospital’s hallways and break rooms, talking to nurses about the patients they didn’t know how to comfort, and to patients about the prayers they’d been too afraid to ask for. Only then did training start. Only then did OPR help place a chaplain who actually understood the room they were walking into.
The hospital didn’t get a vendor. It got a partner who stayed.
A hospital that didn't know how to talk to the families in its waiting room. A university that had never trained a chaplain who reflected its students. These are the doors OPR has walked through, one relationship at a time.
These rooms aren't galas or conferences. They're spaces where a father can finally ask a question he's been sitting on for years, and a mother can say out loud what she's never said before, until someone stays long enough to answer.
Most of these people never sit in a formal program. They hear about a resource at a community dinner, learn to recognize a crisis from a flyer a neighbor translated, or catch a conversation that started because of a room OPR built years earlier.
Every gift goes directly into the programs on this page: training chaplains, running the Culturally Responsive Model of Mental Health & Substance Use Disorder Care, and developing the next generation of community leaders.

The people in this room aren’t case studies. They’re the reason every program on this page exists, people who sat somewhere just like this and told us exactly what they needed.
Our Approach
Building Stronger Communities Through Partnership.
A hospital doesn’t need the same thing a school does. A family navigating grief doesn’t need what a young professional building a career needs. So instead of building one program and hoping it fits everyone, OPR builds around whoever’s actually in the room: healthcare systems, faith leaders, educators, public institutions, and community organizations, each with their own way into the work. What ties it together isn’t a script. It’s 24 years of relationships and a shared set of values, service, humility, and respect for whoever we’re sitting across from, that shape how we show up every time.
Interfaith Chaplaincy
A hospital chaplain who spent a decade unable to answer half the questions patients actually asked, because nothing in their training prepared them for this specific room, this specific family, this specific fear. OPR trains and places chaplains who can, one hospital, university, and public institution at a time.
Strengthening What's Already There
That same care doesn’t stop at the hospital door. A faith center board running on volunteers who’ve never had budget training, never learned how to resolve a conflict without losing a member, never planned for who takes over when they step down. OPR builds that same kind of capacity into the institutions already doing the work, not around them.
Civic Leadership
It doesn’t stop at the institution’s front door either. A city council meeting where no one in the room speaks for the neighborhood actually affected by the vote. OPR helps East African, immigrant, and refugee communities understand and influence the public systems that shape their everyday lives, so that room looks different too.
